Car, Driving licence
If you want to drive a car or motorbike in Germany on an international or foreign driver’s licence you must make sure that:
- the driver’s licence is valid,
- the driver’s licence has been duly and correctly obtained
- if it is a temporary licence it hasn’t expired.
In general, driver’s licences issued abroad entitle you to drive a vehicle in Germany. The period of entitlement depends on the country of issue.
If you come from a non EU country, you may drive for a maximum of six months using your driver’s licence, after this time you must take the theoretical and practical driving test.
Further information is available from your local road traffic authority
